It’s that exciting time of year where the sun starts to shine and my kit and I get to spend time in the great outdoors shooting all kinds of incredible madness. With the diary now having something in every weekend till September as well as plenty of mid-week dates, I need to ensure my kit is with me and ready to capture the magic.
I wanted to give a few quick shout outs, to bits of kit I love to carry with me and will use very regularly.
First up, for years I would buy a cheap bag, something which would do the job, and time after time it would break on me. With the jobs getting bigger and better, I needed something which is durable, comfy and most importantly can fit everything in. I make one of my best investments which was the ThinkTank StreetWalker HardDrive V2.0. This think is insane I love it! So comfy and fits everything in. Although it will always be my go to bag, in the coming months I am going to look into a second bag which is much smaller, which can carry just the essentials for the jobs I need to move around a lot more on. I will 100% be going with ThinkTank for this and considering the airport series.
I have heard great things about ThinkTank and their customer service, I have never had any issues and needed to speak with them so can’t personally share an interest but i’m very impressed with the bag.
Ahh my beautiful Sigma 15mm f2.8 Fisheye. Funny story, I went to town to pick up a jacket before Sumo Cyco and Eva Plays Dead at Rock City, I saw this and couldn’t not get it! I love it and it opened my eyes up to a whole new style of shooting.
Next up I have to give a shout out to Ear Labs for producing dBud Volume Adjustable Earplugs. I was waiting about a year for these to come after a kickstarter campaign but the wait was worth it! They come with a leash to go around your neck as well as magnets built-in so you can where them like a necklace when you are not using them. I wont lie, my previous supplier was great, but there have blown everything else out the water for me.
My Jam Classic 2.0 Wireless Speaker… I can’t imagine a life without music. Theres nothing else to say, it provides music either on shoots, when im editing on the go or just if I want to do a happy dance because Ive nailed a shoot. It was a gift from my brother and is probably one of the longest standing items in my bag.
Off camera flash, in an ideal world I would be sporting a set of wireless flashes with transmitter and receivers by someone like Godox or Pixapro, but for now, a have some Neewer wireless receivers and trigger. This do the job and I honestly do really like them, only downside towards the cheaper Neewer option is if I want to adjust the flash settings, I have to do it from the back of my flash.
Last shout out, my On Camera Adjustable Video Light. It sits in the hotshoe comfortable, is really light and does a brilliant job, plus comes in really handy when I am storing my kit in a dark area and can’t find my memory cards. This little item was really cheap and takes 4 AA batteries, I don’t do too much filming, but when I do, it is on.
